Scholarship cum Charity Policy

Introduction: Maulana Azad University, Jodhpur, is committed to providing quality education to all deserving students regardless of their financial backgrounds. In line with this commitment, the university has established a Charity cum Scholarship Policy to support students belonging to various categories including deserving, financially needy, children of armed forces personnel, and single-parent households. This policy ensures that no deserving student is deprived of education due to financial constraints. Final approval of scholarships is subject to the Chairperson's discretion. Scholarship Categories:

1. Meritorious Scholarships: - This scholarship is awarded to students who have demonstrated exceptional academic performance in their previous examinations. - Eligibility criteria may include maintaining a certain GPA or scoring above a specified percentile in entrance exams. - Meritorious scholarships may cover a portion or the entirety of tuition fees based on academic achievement. - Students scoring 90% and above marks in High Secondary examinations are eligible for a 50% discount on prescribed fees.

2. Financially Needy Scholarships: - These scholarships are intended for students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. - Eligibility is determined based on family income, with preference given to students from low-income households. - Financially needy scholarships may cover tuition fees, accommodation costs, and other essential expenses. - Students coming from government schools are eligible to receive a 20% direct fee concession in the financially needy category.

3. Armed Forces Scholarships: - Children of active or retired armed forces personnel are eligible for this scholarship. - This scholarship honours the sacrifices made by armed forces families and aims to support their educational aspirations. - It may cover a percentage of tuition fees or provide financial assistance for other educational expenses. - Students from armed forces backgrounds are eligible to receive scholarships ranging from 10% to 50% in different courses. - Additionally, two (02) seats are reserved in each course for the wards of Veer Naris, Widows, Disabled Soldiers & ESM, serving/ retired personnel.

4. Single Parent Child Scholarships: - This scholarship is available to students who are raised by a single parent or guardian due to various circumstances such as divorce, death, or abandonment. - It aims to alleviate the financial burden on single-parent households and enable their children to pursue higher education. - Eligibility may require providing documentation proving single-parent status. Application and Selection Process: - Interested students must apply for scholarships. - Each scholarship category will have specific eligibility criteria and documentation requirements. - A scholarship committee comprising university faculty and administrators will review applications and select recipients based on merit and need. - Shortlisted candidates may be required to attend an interview or provide additional documentation for verification purposes. - The final selection of scholarship recipients will be based on the committee's assessment. Renewal and Continuation: - Scholarships may be renewed annually based on the recipient's academic performance and adherence to university regulations. - Renewal criteria may include maintaining a minimum GPA, satisfactory conduct, and full-time enrollment. - Recipients are encouraged to actively participate in university activities and contribute positively to the academic community. Additionally, along with scholarships, a few seats are reserved for each category in all council courses.
